KBE managed the construction of this significant urban lifestyle center, encompassing a 1 million sf, 3-story enclosed mall with street-level shops, along with an 8-story, 1.2 million sf, 3,040 space parking structure. The layered subgrade parking garage, from base to the podium level, and the 7-story rear parking garage, were constructed of structural cast-in-place concrete, a filigree-form plank system, and structural slabs. The SoNo Collection project is built on a busy city block in South Norwalk, with challenges on all four sides – the highly congested I-95 to the north, the busy commuter MTA Rail Line to the east, a 100-year-old church to the south, a major city thoroughfare to the west, and a 4-lane city street bisecting the site. Proximity to the MTA Rail Line added additional regulatory review, special vibration sensors, and limited the use of construction equipment to erect the structure (*With JV Partner VCC).
